Over 2,200 runners took part in the "Krasnoyarsk Bridges" large–scale running event. Among them were not only residents of the regional center, but also guests from other cities of Russia. The marathon was dedicated to the upcoming 400th anniversary of the city.
The participants started from the square of the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic. Food outlets and fan zones were open throughout the race, and fans were actively encouraging the runners.
Runners at distances of 5 and 42.2 kilometers, more than 1,000 people, were the first to start at 08:00 a.m. The five athletes ran across a cable-stayed bridge on Tatyshev Island. Pavel Tarasov became the fastest among men with the result of 00:15:47, and Svetlana Chizhikova – 00:16:54 among women.
"I didn't prepare for the marathon specifically, it was a kind of control training. I have the main start of the season ahead of me, the World championships in cross-triathlon and duathlon. The track is excellent, it allowed us to show good results on the course. We were also very lucky with the weather," said Svetlana Chizhikova, the winner of the top five.
The athletes overcame the track in one lap, running through the iconic and historical places of the city, including the Krasnoyarsk bridges.
There was a serious fight among the men at the finish line. Ivan Titov and Sergey Khazov reached the finish line with a time of 02:34:01, but Ivan beat his opponent by a fraction of a second and pulled ahead. Among women, Natalia Aristarkhova, an experienced runner, won, she finished first with a result of 02:53:36. Natalia is an international master of sports in athletics.
"This is the first time I've participated in a marathon and I'm happy with the result. They say that you have to run with a reserve, so as not to give your best at the beginning. I ran steadily for the first half of the marathon and kept my strength for the last stretch. The last 4 kilometers were difficult, and at the finish we caught up with my opponent. But luck was on my side," said Ivan Titov, winner of the "Krasnoyarsk Bridges" marathon.
More than 400 people ran the ten-kilometer distance. Ivan Olyanich from Kansk became the fastest among men. He covered the distance in 32 minutes and 40 seconds. Irina Ulchugasheva from Abakan became the best among women. The result is 36 minutes and 48 seconds.
"This is my first race. It was very difficult, but in the last kilometer before the finish, I made a leap forward, gathered myself and overtook my rivals. The training took three months, I ran every day, and it helped me to win!" said Ivan Olyanich, the winner of the ten–kilometer race from Kansk.
More than 800 people took part in the start of the 1,628-meter and 3-kilometer race.
All participants of the marathon received souvenirs and commemorative medals with the symbols of the 400th anniversary of the city at the finish line. The absolute winners and prize-winners at distances of 5 and 10 km were awarded medals, diplomas and gifts from the event partners. The absolute winners of the marathon race will receive cups, cash prizes and gifts.
