A spiral staircase began to be installed in the Surikov Center.

The staircase should become one of the "highlights" of the future cultural space. It will connect the basement and the ground floor. A so-called "light lantern" will be created on the second floor due to a glass fragment of the floor and roof. And a birch light installation will "grow" to the full height of two floors. The trees were not chosen by chance. This is a reference to the three birch trees that Vasily Surikov planted. They are still growing on the territory of the museum-estate of the artist.

In addition, the contractor has started the installation of insulation, plastering and installation of the facade subsystem. Work is underway to install the roof. Storm sewers and water supply are 60% ready. Inside the building, builders are carrying out electrical and plumbing work, laying engineering networks. The brickwork of the partitions is completed. An elevator and windows are installed. In the near future, specialists will begin work on stained glass windows. The overall readiness of the building is 44%. 

"The facility is being built for the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk. The construction of the cultural space is under the control of the head of Krasnoyarsk Sergey Vereshchagin. It is planned that the Surikov Center will open in early 2028. In order to deliver the facility strictly on schedule, the contractor will start landscaping this summer, and in the cold season he will carry out finishing work. You could say they're almost jewelry. The architects have provided many interesting details in this regard," said Alexander Navrodsky, Deputy Mayor and Head of the Urban Planning Department.

The area of the two-storey building with a basement will be 2.3 thousand square meters. m. Inside there will be an exhibition hall, a lecture hall, a library, a media room, an art workshop, a museum cafe with access to a terrace, a storage room and office premises.

The spaces of the Surikov Center will allow you to place large-scale paintings by artists. Negotiations are already underway with the Russian Museum to make Vasily Surikov's paintings part of the first exhibition. After all, 2028 marks the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Krasnoyarsk artist.
