There are plans to create a memorial place for defenders of the Fatherland in Gvardeysky Park.

It is planned to create a single place of memory for the defenders of the Fatherland in Gvardeysky Park in the Sovetsky district. This public space was included in the list of landscaping facilities dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk. The concept of updating the park is based on the preservation of the natural landscape, as well as the creation of a military–historical complex with various patriotic locations on the territory.

Let us remind you that Gvardeysky Park has historical significance for Krasnoyarsk. In 1939, the 119th Krasnoyarsk Rifle Division was manned on this territory. And in 1942, the Red Army soldiers of the 17th Guards Rifle Division lived in tents and studied military affairs here. The formation of the 78th Volunteer Brigade is also connected with the history of the place.

A meeting was held the day before to discuss the improvement of the space. The participants of the SVO and representatives of public organizations reviewed the architectural plan, the filling of the stands, and the location of the alleys. There are plans to create three main themed alleys in the park. The first one should be dedicated to the Great Patriotic War, the second to various branches of the armed forces, and the third to the history of the development of military equipment.  For the first time, a space dedicated to the participants of a special military operation will be created in the park.

"It is very important that this place unites both the participants of the SVO, and the volunteers, and the families of the fighters. Each element of this space should not just be an ornament, but emphasize a deep symbol that tells the story of courage and service to the Motherland," said Alexey Gladyshev, First Deputy Chairman of the Union of Veterans of the Russian Military.

The participants of the meeting also came up with a proposal to place information on the development of the Guard in the park from the time of Peter the Great to the present day.  Indeed, in the modern army, the title "guards" is assigned to units that have distinguished themselves in battles. This confirms their high status and military achievements.

"Of course, there is a public demand to create a central place in our city that will unite us with the memory and pride of our defenders, the heroes of the SVR. It is no coincidence that it was decided to create such a memorial space in such a historical place, which emphasizes the continuity of our countrymen. We will definitely hold several public discussions on this project, this is exactly the task set by the Governor of the Krasnoyarsk Territory," said Evgenia Yuryeva, Deputy mayor of the city and head of the Department of Social Development.
