The historical quarter in Krasnoyarsk is a public space in the city center, created on the basis of restored wooden houses of the XIX – early XX century (Gorky Street area).
The project began to be discussed in the early 2010s, and active implementation started in 2017. As part of the reconstruction, the historic buildings were dismantled and restored with the preservation of a significant part of the original materials.
The main feature of the quarter is the combination of authentic architecture and modern function: today it is a pedestrian zone with cafes, hotels and cultural venues. The project is being implemented with the participation of private investors and the city and is considered an example of careful renovation of the historical environment.
Vasily Ivanovich Surikov Square
Vasily Ivanovich Surikov Square is located in the Central district of Krasnoyarsk, opposite it is the government building of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The Church of All Saints, where the famous artist was baptized, once stood on the site of the square. In 1948, on the centenary of Vasily Ivanovich's birth, a stone was laid here for a future monument, and the monument itself was opened on June 22, 1954. The authors of the monument are architect Valerian Kirkhoglani and sculptor Leonid Eydlin. Vasily Ivanovich Surikov Square is a cozy place in the very center of the city, where you can relax on benches under a shaded canopy and read a book. There is a playground for the youngest children. And if you want to please yourself and your loved ones with Siberian delicacies, then you can find several restaurants and a pastry shop near the park.

Pokrovsky Park and Paraskeva Friday Chapel
Pokrovsky Park is located on Karaulnaya Gora and is one of the most important places in the history of Krasnoyarsk. Once the Cossacks guarded Krasny Ostrog from raids from this mountain. Vasily Ivanovich Surikov worked on his sketches on Karaulnaya Gora. And it was here that Alexander Stepanovich Popov observed the solar eclipse in August 1887. The Paraskeva Friday Chapel is located on the territory of the park, which is one of the most recognizable sights of the city – it is depicted on a paper ten-ruble bill. There are also an observation deck with binoculars, a cross of worship, a visitor center with facilities, a dog walking area, and two play areas for different age groups. An amphitheater with a concert venue has been designed for small events.
Yaryginskaya (pravoberezhnaya) embankment
The Yaryginskaya embankment walking area begins near the Bridgehead Square, its length is almost 3 kilometers. Since 2011, the embankment has been named after an outstanding Krasnoyarsk athlete. Ivan Yarygin. The symbol of the embankment is the art object "Duality", which is illuminated at night, resembling two hearts pulsating in harmony and emitting light. According to the authors, this is the personification of the unity of the inhabitants of the right and left banks. Nearby there is a large amphitheater, the steps of which lead to the Yenisei. This is a modern space designed for a comfortable stay. On the embankment you can find areas for relaxing time, playgrounds, sports locations, as well as running and cycling tracks. A two-tiered observation deck with swing boats offers spectacular views of the bridge, the bayou, the Belye Rosy neighborhood and the Island of Rest. Krasnoyarsk Pravoberezhnaya Embankment was recognized as the best architectural project in Siberia in 2020. She received the Grand Prix, the main award of the XX Interregional Festival "Architecture in Siberia 2020" and a gold diploma in the "Landscaping" nomination.
The central (levoberezhnaya) embankment of Krasnoyarsk
The embankment along the left bank of the Yenisei is the pride and calling card of Krasnoyarsk. Its terraces offer stunning views of the Great River, islands, bridges, and the Krasnoyarsk Pillars. The embankment originates in the Strelka area - at Vinogradovsky Bridge, and ends at Zheleznodorozhny. The length of the promenade along the Yenisei is 6 km. The pedestrian zone of the embankment is a single linear park divided into two levels: lower and upper. They are interconnected by stairs, gentle descents and ramps, which provides a comfortable transition between levels. There are facilities for hiking, jogging and cycling on the embankment. There are convenient descents to the river, and several sports and children's playgrounds are located on the lower terrace, which makes the embankment an excellent place for family leisure. The infrastructure of the embankment allows you to take long walks at any time of the year. Within walking distance of it are iconic objects for the city: the museum center "Mira Square", the Regional Philharmonic Hall, Theater Square, Kommunalny Bridge and many others.
Beautiful Coast viewing platform
The Beautiful Shore observation deck is one of the most popular and beautiful places in Krasnoyarsk, because it offers wonderful views of the banks of the Yenisei. It is these beauties that attract tourists, lovers and newlyweds who come here to take amazing pictures. The observation deck stretches along a high cliff for several hundred meters. From here you can admire the right bank of Krasnoyarsk, with its Stolby nature Reserve, Takmak Rock and Beaver Log, as well as the cozy village of Udachny, which is located at the bottom of the cliff, on the left bank, with its pearl– the Holy Dormition Monastery.
