The large-scale street art festival "Rassvety" is being held in Krasnoyarsk for the first time. The program includes the creation of art objects on the facades of houses and retaining walls.
The idea of holding the festival was supported by the head of the city Sergey Vereshchagin. The transformation of the appearance of the city streets will become part of the preparation of the regional capital for the 400th anniversary.
The facades of six apartment buildings on the avenue named after the newspaper "Krasnoyarsk Worker" have been approved for painting.", 155, 157, 181, 187; Alexander Matrosov St., 18 and Semafornaya St., 231. Street paintings will also appear on two retaining walls - at the building on Dubrovinsky St., 45a, and on the lower tier of the Central Embankment (in the area of house No. 47 on Dubrovinsky St.).
The authors of the sketches were famous artists from different parts of the country - St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg, Penza, Moscow, Makhachkala and Tomsk.
The artist Nikita Romanov has already started work. His work "Where the Dawn Lives" will decorate the facade of the house at 231 Semafornaya Street. In the center of the composition is a girl, a collective image of the indigenous peoples of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. She plays a magic pipe, her music awakens the sun and gives the dawn. The figure is framed by natural motifs, animals and traditional ornaments of the region.
"I decided to participate in the festival because it was interesting for me to create a work in Krasnoyarsk. In my drawing, I wanted to refer not so much to the image of the city itself, but to the nature and symbolism of the indigenous inhabitants of the entire region," Nikita Romanov said.
The main events of the festival will be held in August, and the final will be held in the fall.
So, on August 23, on the Central Embankment, artists will be able to paint art objects and listen to performances by local musicians.
On August 29, creators, curators and experts from all over the country will gather at the Mira Square Museum Center. In an open discussion format, they will discuss how public art is changing the urban environment.
The "Dawns" will end on October 31 – on this day the first All-Russian prize in the field of street art will be awarded.
"The Rassvety Festival is a platform not only for recognized artists, but also for street artists who often work outside the legal field. We deliberately include open walls in the program, where young authors will be able to create works under the supervision of professionals. We are transferring graffiti from the category of vandalism to the category of art, showing that street culture can be a partner of the city, not its opponent," said Veronika Kloberdants, head of the main Department of Youth Policy.
