Residents of the Sovetsky district were presented with the concept of landscaping the Gvardeysky Park

The concept is based on the history of the park itself. In 1939, the 119th Krasnoyarsk Rifle Division was manned at this place. And in 1942, Red Army soldiers from the 17th Guards Rifle Division lived in tents and studied military affairs here. The formation of the 78th Volunteer Brigade of Siberian Krasnoyarsk Residents is also connected with the history of the place.

The authors of the project told the residents about the new zoning of the park. It is planned that the renovated public space will become a continuation of the "Green Coast", landscaped along Ulyanovsk Avenue. The existing sports ground and dog walking area are planned to be moved closer to residential buildings on Ulianovskiy Ave.

During the discussion of the project, the townspeople asked the architects to preserve the green area in the park and only update those paths that already exist. As explained by the authors of the project, specialists from the Department of Architecture, there are no plans to lay new footpaths during the landscaping.

In addition, residents supported the idea of leaving the territory near the chapel of Ilya Muromsky as a quiet recreation area. As Krasnoyarsk residents themselves admitted, this place always encourages quiet walks, many citizens walk along the alley or read books in warm weather.

Also, residents of the district asked to improve the territory near the stele, which was reconstructed in 2024. Workers lined the memorial with facade plates, cleaned the bas-reliefs from plaque and laid large-format paving stones. After the repair, the stele got a backlight.

​We would like to add that the projects for the development of iconic public spaces dedicated to the 400th anniversary of Krasnoyarsk are being implemented with the support of the Governor of the region Mikhail Kotyukov. In accordance with his instructions, it is also planned to create a military-historical complex with various playgrounds and alleys for patriotic education on the territory of the Guards Park.

"Residents reacted positively to the changes that will be made in Gvardeysky Park. Modern public spaces have long ceased to be just a recreation and walking area, so it is very important that the renovated park preserves the history of our country. That is why the townspeople supported the project and are now waiting for the transformation," said Elena Lanina, head of the Sovetsky District administration.
