Today, Vladislav Loginov, the head of Krasnoyarsk, together with Mikhail Kotyukov, the governor of the region, checked how the complex has changed as a result of reconstruction. The work at the facility is almost completed.
One of the iconic spaces of the museum, the Hall of Memory, has been radically transformed. It is decorated in bright colors, and the number of names of Victory heroes has more than doubled from the previous 11700 to 27,000. There is a 3D panorama with broadcast equipment, a special application with the ability to download, broadcast and view information about the participants of the Great Patriotic War.
The interactive exhibition is based on about 350 authentic museum objects, including paintings, graphics, posters, photographs, documents, and things. Through the personal stories of Krasnoyarsk residents and Siberians, the exhibition tells about daily exploits in the rear and at the front.
"By creating a new exhibition, we fulfilled the wishes of our dear former residents of besieged Leningrad, we made a blockade room – it was their long–standing dream," said Tatiana Ivleva, director of the Victory Memorial Museum.
Thematic sections were decorated in the main hall: "The world in anticipation of war – a Soviet apartment in the late 1930s", "The train is a symbol of universal movement during the war", which presents the equipment of a Soviet soldier, the stories of concentration camp prisoners, and home front assistance.
There is also a mock–up of military operations during the crossing of the Dnieper River with sliding display cases, as well as locations dedicated to the Siberian defenders of the Motherland, the defense of Dixon, the Alaska–Siberia airway, and the heroes of the Soviet Union.
With the help of monophones, you can listen to the stories and memories of the war participants. The exhibition ends with the interactive composition "Victory", where visitors can immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the universal celebration of Victory Day in Krasnoyarsk on May 9, 1945.
During the reconstruction of the museum building, the facade, entrance doors, windows were replaced, a wardrobe was equipped, and a new ventilation system was installed.
"What we have managed to create has even exceeded expectations. It's not just the names on the walls, it's the fate of Krasnoyarsk residents. All visitors will be able to walk through the life of our soldiers, as well as those who were evacuated to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, learn the stories of war children, those who worked in factories and hospitals and helped soldiers return to service. It is a contribution to our historical memory, it is a place of pride and a place of strength. Families should come here," Mikhail Kotyukov said.
The grand opening of the Victory Memorial Museum is scheduled for May 2. A concert of the Krasnoyarsk Brass Band will begin on Victory Square at 20:00.
A gift to Krasnoyarsk residents in honor of the opening of the Victory Memorial Museum will be a multimedia screening with a projection of videos on the museum building. From 21:00 to 22:00, visitors will be able to watch an interactive video about the Great Patriotic War and learn about the history of the museum itself. On May 3 and 4, the multimedia show will also be repeated from 21:00 to 22:00.
On May 9, the museum will be open from 11:00 to 20:00. Traditionally, a rally will be held here with the laying of wreaths and flowers at the Eternal Flame. Exhibitions of historical artifacts, a public reception for information retrieval "The Fate of a soldier", and workshops will be held on the square.
"I am grateful to everyone who worked on the transformation of the main place of memory of Krasnoyarsk residents, who shared their family history, who put their soul into the realization of this idea,– Vladislav Loginov said. – Putting memorial sites in order is one of the tasks that is being carried out on behalf of the governor of the region. We are symbolically opening the complex in the Year of Defender of the Fatherland, announced by the President of the country, on the very significant dates for us of the 80th anniversary of Victory and the 50th anniversary of the museum itself."
The concept of the reconstruction of the complex was developed taking into account the opinions of veterans, representatives of the architectural community and concerned citizens. The transformation of the museum complex supports the traditions laid down by chief architect Areg Demirkhanov. The project is part of the city's 400th anniversary preparation program.
