On May 2, the Victory Memorial Museum opened its doors to visitors for the first time after major repairs. The opening ceremony was attended by the head of Krasnoyarsk Vladislav Loginov, former minor concentration camp prisoners, residents of besieged Leningrad, veterans of the Free Military District, representatives of the regional Council of Veterans, search engines and other honored guests. On this day, the participants of the movement "Post No. 1" joined the Eternal Flame.

"We have been working towards this day since 2022. Together they discussed the concept of modernizing the museum and Victory Square at the city forum, preserved the Eternal Flame, restored the monument to Alyosha, planted trees, and together with the townspeople updated the lists of Krasnoyarsk heroes who did not return from the fronts. Thanks! The difficult task was to gather a huge amount of information together, preserve the traditions, meanings, symbols of this place and make the complex modern. I'm sure everything worked out! In the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, we are opening a museum of national memory, which time has no control over," Vladislav Loginov, the mayor of the city, addressed the participants of the opening ceremony of the renovated memorial complex.

After the official part, the museum staff conducted a guided tour for the guests. The participants saw a new exhibition in the Hall of Memory. It also includes the stories of former concentration camp prisoners. They managed to depict 15 portraits of captured Krasnoyarsk citizens on the wall. You can get to know everyone's personal history through a media screen.

There are also cards of prisoners of war, letters, documents, and a mini-replica of the monument to "Children Prisoners of Nazi Camps", which is located in Gvardeysky Park. The participants of those terrible events came to the opening of the Victory Memorial Museum. Antonina Gurina is among them. Together with her mother, she spent 2.5 years in a concentration camp.

"We did everything very precisely and so beautifully! There are also the clothes we wore. Everywhere you look, everything reminds you of the days of the war. Thanks to the museum staff, to everyone who worked and created with their own hands such an amazing memory of history!" said Antonina Gurina, a former juvenile prisoner of the Nazi concentration camp.

The first visitors were also able to immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the general celebration of Victory Day in Krasnoyarsk, to hear the voice of Levitan, who announced the end of the war on May 9, 1945.

"The main task in creating the exhibition was to immerse a modern person in that time, to give him the opportunity to go through history – the 1,418-day journey that our Krasnoyarsk residents have traveled. We want everyone to learn a little more about the war. I think that the guests will love our renovated museum very much," said Tatiana Ivleva, Director of the Victory Memorial Museum.

Excursions were also organized for residents and guests of the city. Almost 2,500 guests visited them in three days. About 1,500 more spectators came to Victory Square to watch the evening multimedia screening with the projection of videos on the museum building. It was a real open-air cinema. The audience saw social videos about the war, as well as a presentation of a film about the history of the creation of the Victory Memorial Museum. Patriotic songs by Krasnoyarsk soloist Alexei Orlov complemented the show.

"It's a great idea to organize such a display right on the square! We're just thrilled. I brought my daughter here on purpose, because I consider it important to foster a sense of patriotism in children. Songs, movies – everything is very soulful. Thank you for such a holiday!" said Tatiana Linkova, a resident of Krasnoyarsk.

The Victory Memorial Museum will be open seven days a week until May 18. Anyone can visit it on their own. Registration for the tour will reopen on May 15th. On the day of the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, the museum will be open from 11:00 to 20:00. You can find out more about the work schedule of the institution on the website.

The memorial complexes are being put in order for the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory on behalf of Governor Mikhail Kotyukov. This project is part of the city's 400th anniversary preparation program.
